Re: Creating software to communicate with meter

Thank you for using our meters for your project, we will be very interested to see what you come up with! There are 2 ways for you to proceed. You can either read the meters directly using the RS-485 protocol. This requires an understanding of serial data. A good place to start is here: http://forum...

Re: EKM-Omnimeter RS-485 Data

Ian, Thank you for your detailed questions. 1. The example shows energy accumulation for 4 transformers. Which meter has a 4th CT input? EKM-- 1. I think you may be referring to the 4 different time periods the meter returns. The Omnimeter itself keeps track of how many kWh both Total and Reverse ha...

Re: EKM-Omnimeter RS-485 Data

Hello Ian, Yes we do have the settings protocol available. It is a bit more challenging to decipher (than our return string parsing sheet), but between it and sniffing the Serial bus while making changes to your meters using the EKM Reader software you should be able to get it. Here is the command/s...

Re: TCP Help

I would be interested in knowing if this is a response coming from the meter. Are you sending your meter an RS-485 hex string? If you have an Omnimeter you will be using this document: http://documents.ekmmetering.com/Meter_Communication_Parsing_Submeter_v3.pdf You will want to make sure you are sen...

Re: Time slots on omni v.3

Wouter, This is for "Time-of-Use" metering. Some utility customers are charged different rates for different periods of the day. The meter itself keeps track of how much power was used (or generated in these TOU periods. Up to 4 TOU periods can be set and 4 seasons can also be set internally in the ...

Re: EKM Meter Communication options?

Hello Wouter, Thanks for asking! We are really excited about the EKM Push System. The EKM Push System is our forthcoming hardware and database solution. This is a circuit board that we have developed that is designed to be a replacement for our EKM-iSerial. It will make setting up your meter communi...

Re: EKM Metering systems for solar PV?

By the way...

Did anyone see the Homepower Magazine write up that included a mention of our meters??

It was about a 50 kW grid-tied PV system at a 30 building community in Ithaca, New York that used a bunch of our meters to manage their energy. Very cool. 8-)

Re: EKM Metering systems for solar PV?

Hi SolarOwl! Any of our smart (communicating) meters will work well in a solar installation where you want to measure how much power is flowing in each direction. Our EKM-Omnimeter is our most recommended just because it can be used on any electrical system in the world. When connected on the line b...

Re: TCP Socket Failed to Connect

Hello Wouter, The "Complete Guide to EKM Metering is a good place to start: http://www.ekmmetering.com/information/the-complete-guide.html There is a section for software. Also stay tuned for our next version of the software, we hope to have this in a couple months. I will go over it with you here: ...

Re: RS485

Wouter, Sounds like a cool system. We will help you out in any way that we can. Here is the string parsing document for the EKM-Omnimeter: http://documents.ekmmetering.com/Meter_Communication_Parsing_Submeter_v3.pdf The last 2 bytes are a CRC-16 checksum. The Omnimeter communicates at 9600 baud, 7 d...
