Re: Read Regular Data Error

Samantha, Glad to hear you got it working! :D In order to count the pulses from a water meter, gas meter, or other pulse output device, you will connect the 2 wires from the pulse output device to our EKM Omnimeter Pulse v.4. Here is an excerpt from this Omnimeter Pulse v.4 Spec Sheet: http://docume...

Re: Read Regular Data Error

Hello Samantha, Welcome to the forum! There are a number of reasons that you could be getting this message. Bad connection on the RS485 wire, bad settings in your iSerial, improperly configured EKM Dash, etc. One way to approach this would be to download the latest version of the EKM Dash: http://ww...

Re: Potentially miswired Omnimeter v4

Well, without running the EKM Dash software, I wont be able to make much of a guess at what is going on. The serial settings look good. But I cant tell if you are using the USB as a serial port. Your meter request looks like a v.3 meter request (missing an extra 30 30 for the request A). I would sug...

Re: Potentially miswired Omnimeter v4

Welcome to the Forum! And thanks for the BIG!! :o photos. On the RS485 data side: The one issue that pops out right at first is that you have a twisted pair going to each port. Separate this out so that you have 1 wire going to each port. For example: Green Wire should go to port A+ on the USB conve...

Bill, Here is a long winded answer to your question about "Device Signatures": http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/teaching/distinguished-projects/2011/d.kelly.pdf Here is another: http://www.cse.psu.edu/~smclaugh/cse598e-f11/papers/laughman.pdf The idea behind this is that any given electrical device...

Re: v4 First look

Hello Bill, Our meters return Total Kilowatt Hours (forward kWh + reverse kWh) and Reverse kWh (reverse kWh only). To find Forward kWh you would use this formula: Total kWh - Reverse kWh = Forward kWh. This is the formula we use in the EKM Dash. VARs are volts amps reactive (real time value similar ...

Re: Direction of Current

Hello Bas, Welcome to the forum. The Omnimeter I v.3 does not report back the direction of the current in real-time. It will report back watts and Total kWh (forward + reverse kWh) and Reverse kWh. From this you can make interpretations of which direction the current is flowing in (much easier if yo...

Re: v4 First look

Bill, Glad you like the looks of the EKM-Omnimeter Pulse v.4! 8-) This meter does come with a load of new features that really open up a world of possibilities. Yes, this meter has separate kWh registers for each line, so yes you can have a 120 volt 2-wire load on each of the 3 lines and get back bo...
