Re: iSerial Read Data Error
Thanks for your input Bill, it is very much appreciated. Would love to get some dialogs going on the forum. -- I am not seeing a glaring issue in the setup of the EKM Dash or the iSerial that you have sent. It is set to once a minute which will make the setup a little harder. I would try setting the...

Re: Strange issues with RS485 Communications
Hello Alfonso, I have seen very similar data to this. The data you are showing is quite garbled. The first thing I look at is, are my serial settings correct? Do you have your serial port set to 9600 baud, 7 data bits, even parity, and no flow control? Now that I look at your screenshot again it loo...

Re: CRC16 help
Very interesting!! The Raspberry Pi is really perfect for this. We have one here and have tinkered with it a bit, but have not gotten it to read meters yet (I was trying through UART). I would be very interested in tracking your progress! Have you only read your meters through iSerials or have you a...

Re: CRC16 help
I will also admit that I dont understand this too well myself. We use a plugin that solves this for the EKM Dash (we had a developer solve this for the EKM Push) Perhaps someone here on the forum can comment on your code. One thing to check is that the checksum is the last 2 bytes, and is calculated...

Re: iSerial Read Data Error
It sounds like you are really close. It also sounds like the iSerial is seeing your meter read requests (the ACT light is flashing which indicates RS-485 traffic). This is a good start. 2 things to check first: What meter number are you using? Are you using the EKM-Omnimeter number that is laser mar...

Re: Accessing meter via Modbus protocol with PLC.
Hello Jandson, We have had quite a few customers program their PLCs to be able to read our meters directly. Our meters use the same hardware (RS-485) as Modbus, but they speak in a different language (our adaptation of an IEC protocol). There is a good running discussion of how to read your meters w...

Re: EKM WAN communication
Hello Arturo, Thank you for using our meters. It sounds like you have the networking concepts correct and that you can read your meters over your LAN. Do you have a Static IP or a Dynamic IP address? You can verify your public IP address by going to: http://www.whatsmyip.org/ Are you able to Ping yo...

Re: Sowfware-Dash and V3.1.134
Hey Bill!! If you open the EKM Dash software and then click on "Edit Meter" then click on the "Data" tab, this will read your meters' 6 Months of Monthly data (this is 6 separate meter kWh reads that are stored inside the meter, they are taken once a month on the last day of the ...

Re: extra IO pin on Omnimeter V3 meter?
Hello JF, Would i be able to use the inputs that are reserved for pulse counting on your meter? Yes, we are working on a meter that will allow this through the pulse inputs (not available yet). In the future when you read your Pulse Counting meter you will be able to tell how many Pulse Counts there...

Re: Installing a meter reading system
Hello Bill, Im afraid that I have not heard of retrofit kits for water meters. The Pulse Output reed switch is really buried below where the wires come out of the face. It engages with a magnet that is affixed to the slowest moving dial. Every time this slow dial goes around it trips the reed switch...
