Re: Installing a meter reading system

Hello Bill, Do you know if the water meters that you have already installed have a pulse output? This would be a small sensor on the face of the meter that detects when the dials indicating consumption complete a revolution. This sensor would close a micro switch every time a defined amount of water...

Re: Relay to connect/disconnect power supply

We do not offer the functionality to be able to control a relay at this time. This is something that we are very interested in offering in the future.

We will update this post when it is available.

Best regards,

Re: extra IO pin on Omnimeter V3 meter?

Interesting idea Bill! I like it. This is a unique idea for sensing on the 3rd voltage input (the 3rd input is not used on the EKM-Omnimeter in a single phase 3-wire system) If the meter does not have a CT input on line 3 and you were to have a switched voltage input (controlled by a thermostat) on ...

Re: Creating software to communicate with meter

How you communicate with the meter using your own software is up to how you write your software. In the case of our EKM Dash software, we open serial ports (either Serial RS232, USB COM ports, or Virtual Serial ports in the case of the iSerial) to the proper serial settings and then we write (send t...

Re: Firmware

Hello Bill, By all intents and purposes the firmware is not upgradeable. If there are features that we decide to develop and to add to our line of meters, we need to "bake" these in to the hardware design and the underlying firmware. If we have enough of a demand for a particular feature w...

Re: extra IO pin on Omnimeter V3 meter?

Hello Jean-Francois That is interesting! I have never heard of this type of Utility Tariff Scheme before. In parts of California there are customers that get charged more if the local average temperature is projected to be over a set level (this is not measured at each individual meter). Interfacing...

Re: Widget

Bill, Yes, we would be happy to share the widget source code with you to run on your own server. We would like to make this open source, so if you tinker with it and make any improvements that you feel others may find useful, please let us know. Please send us an email to info@ekmmetering.com and we...

Re: Water meter ratio

Hello Ed, With the Pulse Input meter (25EDSP-N in your case) you can set the pulse input ratio to anything from 1:1 to 9999:1. This is so if you have something that pulses really fast, the counter will not go too high too quickly. If you have the pulse input ratio set to 1000:1 (the default setting)...

Re: The T's

Hi Bill, So if I was interested in 4 events (I changed to word from periods to events for clarity) Say (5a to 7a) (8a to 10a) (1p to 2p) (3p to 5p) I could only do 2 of them due to the periods in between the interested events. (P1 5a to 7a) (P2 7a to 8a) (P3 8a to 10a) (P4 10a to 5a) Yes you have it...

Re: Using Omnimeter II UL3.0 to measure usage and export

Hello Maverick, There is a distinction between watts and kilowatt-hours that I may have missed here. Scenario 1 (only real-time values needed) If you were to install your meter in an unapproved way (in your case with multiple CTs, like a 3-phase setup on a single phase system), you would not get acc...
