EKM is now on the SCE EVSE Submetering list

Post by Jameson »

We are very pleased to announce that our EKM Omnimeter Pulse v.4 UL is now listed on the official SCE EVSE Submetering list.

This allows SCE (Southern California Edison), SDG&E (San Diego Gas and Electric), and PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric) residential or business customers to separately submeter their electric car from their business or residence using a self owned (rather than utility company owned submeter or utility meter). This has the potential to save customers thousands of dollars on installation costs and months of wait time vs having a utility owned meter installed.

The EKM Omnimeter Pulse v.4 UL can be installed either at the main panel, the sub-panel, at the EVSE, or embedded in the EVSE.

The EKM submeter data would be sent via EKM Push3 gateway to the EKM Push cloud system for free, then the relevant billing data would be sent to the utility using a Meter Data Management Agent (currently Grid Tractor is the only MDMA that provides this service).

If you or someone you know has participated in this SCE, PG&E, or SDG&E program, we would love to hear from you so please reach out or comment below. How is this program working for you? How long did it take to get set up and what were the costs involved? If you are considering signing up, we would love to hear from you as well.
