When will you get more? EKM 485Bee -- Zigbee Wireless

Post by Impatientinventor »

The EKM 485Bee -- Zigbee Wireless Adapter for RS-485 Network is not urrently available/out of stock.

Are you upgrading the product/have a newer better solution?

Also do you have an enclosure you would suggest for this?

thanks,

I just purchased qty 2

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221005989082?ss ... 1439.l2649

and qty 2

http://www.ekmmetering.com/ekm-metering ... erter.html

which gives me 2.4 Ghz, a lot better than 900mhz for wall penetration and increased range from 300m to up to 2000m for $50 per unit with power supply.

There is an option of a RS485 version of the Zigbe but it is 900mhz and more expensive so I went with this rout. I'll keep everyone posted on my success.

We now have the 485Bees back in stock.

Thanks for pointing out the zigbee to serial converters. We will be interested in hearing your results. More and better ways of reading our meters are always of interest to us.

We used to use the 2.4gHz wireless mesh, but have found the 900 mHz wireless mesh radios to be more reliable over longer distances and even through walls. 2.4gHz is supposed to be better through walls, but that has not been our real-world experience. The disadvantage to the 900mHz radios is that they do not work well with the slower communications of our v.2 meters.

The closest we have found to an enclosure we could recommend for the 485Bee is made by Bud Industries model CU-1471. It is not water-proof. It can be found here:

Again, by all means let us know how it goes with your Zigbee converter.

Thanks,
Jameson
