Read Regular Data Error

Post by Samantha »

Hi,

I'm currently using the latest Omnimeter Pulse V.4.
Ekm Dash Software keeps giving me, 'Read regular data error'. No problems with circuits connections or iSerial as I've checked multiple times.
Any idea why?

Thanks

Hello Samantha,

Welcome to the forum!

There are a number of reasons that you could be getting this message. Bad connection on the RS485 wire, bad settings in your iSerial, improperly configured EKM Dash, etc.

One way to approach this would be to download the latest version of the EKM Dash: http://www.dash.ekmmetering.com/all.zip

This newest version has better descriptions in the "Activity Window" that give a better indication of what could be going on.

Another approach would be to send us the settings you are using by taking screenshots of the EKM Dash settings, the iSerial settings, and ideally photos of your installation (specifically photos of the RS-485 data wire entering your EKM iSerial and your EKM Meter).

Thanks and best regards,
Jameson

Hi Jameson,

Thanks, it's somehow working now. No idea why. I just re-connect all the wires and set up the configurations again.

I have a question, how do I use the EKM DASH and the Omnimeter Pulse V.4 to measure/read pulse signals and what about the connections?

Thank you.

Samantha,

Glad to hear you got it working! :D

In order to count the pulses from a water meter, gas meter, or other pulse output device, you will connect the 2 wires from the pulse output device to our EKM Omnimeter Pulse v.4. Here is an excerpt from this Omnimeter Pulse v.4 Spec Sheet: http://documents.ekmmetering.com/EKM-Om ... -Sheet.pdf
Pulse Input:
Fig. 6
The Omnimeter Pulse v.4 can also count the pulses from up to 3 different pulse output devices. These could be pulses from our Pulse Output Water Meters and Pulse Output Gas Meters or from any other unpowered dry contact pulse output device. Pulse Input ratios can be set in software from 1 to 9999 pulses per increment. The state of the 3 Inputs can also be polled in software. The Omnimeter Pulse v.4 will return a High or Low state for each pin in real-time (use this for sensing switch states, open or closed doors, etc). Connect Pulse Generator or Switching Sensor to each of the 3 Pulse Inputs. Connect all grounds to port 14 and each of up to 3 Pulse Output Devices to ports 11, 12, or 13.
I will attach a screenshot of some Omnimeter Pulse v.4 data from the EKM Dash. It shows the 3 separate Pulse Ratios and Pulse Counts highlighted in the Red box at the top and the 3 separate real-time input states highlighted in the Red box below. If you have a pulse ratio set to 1000 to 1, it takes 1000 pulse outputs from your pulse output water or gas meter to register 1 on the Omnimeter Pulse v.4.

By using the Omnimeter Pulse v.4 connected to your iSerial, you can know these real-time values, and can meter electricity, water and gas from anywhere in the world.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Regards,
