Push Service Down?

Post by familylandlord »

Push service appeared to go down after Apr 10 04:22:01 2016 1460262121315 UTC_ms.

Did all the right things, reboot router, restart push device, verify LEDs, but it appears to be system wide, as the demo meters on the EKM site also seem to lack information from this timestamp forward as well.

This is my first such outage since installing the meter 3 months ago.

Thanks for the heads up. I can see that there is an issue with how your Push is communicating with our system. It looks like your Push is trying to communicate, but cannot get a good connection. Your Push is essentially stuck on what we call the "Factory Image" and is not able to download its "Working Image" that it uses to send data.

I saw this same symptoms with a customer recently on this forum and it turned out to be an issue with their internet router. Here are the details:

http://forum.ekmmetering.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3493

They ended up swapping out their airport router which fixed the issue. Please keep us posted as we are very interested to learn what may be going on here. One level of diagnostics you could try would be to try connecting your Push to a different internet connection (with or without a meter attached to it) to see if your Push will talk to our servers.

Just to be clear, we are not aware of any system wide issues with the EKM Push system all other meters seem to be reporting in just fine.

Thanks again,
Jameson

Thanks, i will investigate this problem a little more from my side. Oddly enough, my device is also behind an airport router, as well as a cable modem/router. I will try rebooting the entire infrastructure and possibly move the push device closer to the cablemodem, topologically speaking.

Yup, back in business. Reboot the old Airport (not commercial grade there Apple!). I see samples coming in now.

Thanks for the quick turnaround on assistance.

RESOLVED.

Wow thanks!

Arghh, I hope there is not some "Do you have an airport router?" caveat coming up that we will have to ask customers

Any information you could provide about your Airport Router (Model, Serial, firmware version, etc) could be helpful in cornering whatever is going on here. I will also ask the other guy on the forum to see if we cant tease out the root cause.

Again, thanks so much for your help and for letting us know there was a fix (rather than leaving the issue hanging ;) )

Ok to let you know I did reset my router and it appears to be getting good reads. I was able to sign on to the forum and Encompass.io before resetting the router. Go figure. I'll update as time allows.
