Screwdriver Recommendations from EKM

Post by Jameson »

If you are installing more than just a few meters, it can add up to quite a few terminal blocks to loosen and tighten. We would recommend you make it easy on yourself by getting a good screwdriver.

Hand Tool Version:

Husky HD-74501 AC
Comes with 4 flat head and 4 phillips head drivers. Ergonomic. Has a swiveling cap that makes using it a lot easier.
Small enough to fit in the slot of the EKM-Omnimeter where the terminal blocks are. Good for use with the USB to RS485 Converter. Not small enough to use on the EKM Push.
I would say this makes installing CT wire, and RS485 wire about twice as fast as a normal screwdriver.
Don't over tighten your terminal block screws!!

Electric Version:

DeWalt DCF610 - 12 VDC Battery Powered Driver
Use this for the big jobs. Set your torque clutch to 1. High RPM. Light Weight and will hold its charge for hundreds of Omnimeter installs. Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery.
Get some small diameter bits (we use 1/4 x 50 x3.5 PH1). Weighs 2 lbs 3 oz with battery.
This is the fastest, probably 4 or 5 times faster than a normal screwdriver.
Don't over tighten your terminal block screws!!
