Ekm push control Relay

Post by perisse »

Hello people.
I have an EKM push connected to an omnimeter v4.
The meter is connected to a water meter and its relay output port is connected to a valve on the water pipe.
I need to program a script so that when water keeps flowing too much (detect a leak), the valve is closed and an email is sent.
The best would be if I could program such a script on the EKM push device itself, so that I wouldn't need any other devices hanging on the box outside.
If it's not possible, I will have to deploy the script on the internet or locally on another device, but I couldn't find any way to control the relay using the push box.
Can anybody help?
Thanks.

Hello Perisse,

Yes, it would be great to be able to control relays via the EKM Push system. However, at this point the EKM Push is a read only system. There is no way to make meter settings (change a relay output state, change CT ratios, etc)

The only way we have to be able to control relays via the internet is via the EKM iSerial. The iSerial is complicated to install and setup, but it does allow you to read your meters and make meter settings changes.

Here is a document that compares the EKM Push, the EKM iSerial and the USB Converter, it is also handy for comparing Omnimeter models, and software solutions: http://documents.ekmmetering.com/Omnime ... -Chart.pdf

We will post here when we have the ability to make meter settings via the Push system.

Hum, I already have an iSerial, but I gave up on it in favor of the push box.
Can I connect my Omnimeter to both the push box and iSerial at the same time?
That seems the only way to do it until EKM turns the push box rw.
IMHO it should not be difficult to do it, but doing it implies several support issues. Maybe that's why it's not rw yet.
I am willing to test it if there's a beta.

Yes, you can use an iSerial and and EKM Push connected to the same RS485 bus. The only limitation is you cannot have both devices communicating on the bus at the same moment. So if your EKM Push is on the bus once per minute, your iSerial will have to be on the bus the other 59 seconds. If there is a data collision it is not really a problem, you will just get bad data.
