Installed 2 new OmniMeter Pulse v4 meters in my existing system and am receiving a Read Regular Data Error from both meters. My system was communicating with both of my 25EDSP-N v2 meters before the change out to the v4 meters. Are there any changes I need to make to the iSerial device as a result of moving to the v4 meters?
Thanks,
Ed
New v4 Meter Read Regular Data Error
Re: New v4 Meter Read Regular Data Error
Hello Ed,
There are a couple things you need to be sure of first:
1. Please make sure you are running the latest version of the EKM Dash. And make sure you have EKM-Omnimeter Pulse v.4 selected in the "Meter Model" when setting up a new meter.
2. The iSerial needs to be changed internally from 1200 baud (used in v.2 meters like the 25EDSP-N) to 9600 baud (used in v.3 and v.4 meters). This is done by logging in through your web browser. Here is a page that explains this: http://documents.ekmmetering.com/EKM-iS ... -Sheet.pdf
Let us know if this solves the issue.
Best regards,

Hi Ed,
Please send us as much information as you can.
iSerial Settings Screenshots:
EKM Dash settings screenshots:
Photos of your installation (including the data wires entering your iSerial and your meter):
The meter number you are using:
Does the ACT light on the iSerial flash once every 5 seconds if you have the EKM Dash set to read the meter once every 5 seconds?:
The more information, photos, and screenshots the better.
Regards,

Re: New v4 Meter Read Regular Data Error
Resolved the problem with my new v4 meters - As the new meters have a very long meter number, was only entering the last 4 digits of the number. Once I entered all 12 digits, the software automatically dropped the first 3 leading zeros and kept the last 9. Now everything is talking again. I did notice during installation of the new meters, the instruction sheet indicates that there are 42 readings available on the LCD readout on the meter however my new ones only display 40. (not an issue for me)
Thanks,
Ed

Re: New v4 Meter Read Regular Data Error
Ed,
Good to hear you got it working!
Yes you are correct that the Omnimeter Pulse v.4 meters have a meter number that look like: 000300001234 (if you miss the leading 3 when setting it up in the EKM Dash software, the meter will not respond)
There are 40 values displayed on the the LCD screen out of 42 possibilities. There is a list of what all of the values mean at the end of this spec sheet (Fig. 7): http://documents.ekmmetering.com/EKM-Om ... -Sheet.pdf
We will be adding the ability to turn these LCD registers on and off (using the EKM Dash) that way you will be able to have your meter only display the values you want to see on the LCD screen. This feature is only available in the v.4 meters.
If you have any questions, please let us know.

Re: New v4 Meter Read Regular Data Error
Jason,
For my application, Water meters only at this time, the feature to only display the pulse data would be good. I am now attempting to send the email reports from the meters with no luck so far (receiving email socket error for both meters) am currently verifying the email server data from Verizon.
Thanks,
Ed

Re: New v4 Meter Read Regular Data Error
Hello Ed,
I would suspect that the email message has something to do with your email SMTP settings. I get the same error message you are getting when I use bogus SMTP settings in the EKM Dash email settings.

Re: New v4 Meter Read Regular Data Error
Jason,
Am still not receiving the emails however am seeing Email Report Sent Successfully, Reading 6 Months Data Read (even though I don't have that box checked). Is this being generated by the software or the meters? Leads me to believe that my SMTP settings are correct however while in the Edit Meter/email/SMTP Settings screen and trying to sent a test message, I still receive the error 102 SMTP settings are incorrect message.
Thanks,
Ed

Re: New v4 Meter Read Regular Data Error
Ed,
Is there any way you can email us the SMTP settings you are using (you dont have to include the password). We can take a look at them and let you know if anything pops out.
