Push module

Post by ekmboston »

I had a lightning strike late last year, took out a voip box and one of my nics on a server. Nothing else seemed damaged. I don't check the meter on the internet that often, but I noticed the push box is no longer providing data. Meter seems fine, so I gather the surge somehow came over the ethernet port.

Anyways, what troubleshooting steps can I take to make sure this is the culprit, and is there are repair program, or must I just replace?

Thank you.

If you look at your summary data, did the Push stop working at the same time as the lightning strike?

I would look at your real-time API data. I would use this data to determine if the Push is not connecting to the internet, or if it is not able to read its meter. Here is an article that will help you determine this.

Next, if you cannot figure out why your Push is not either connected to the internet, or does not have the ability to read its meter, I would then open it up. If your Push was damaged by lightning, then there may be parts with visible damage.

The EKM Push Pro is better at withstanding a lightning strike than the regular EKM Push, as it has an opto-isolated RS485 input.

I am travelling right now, I will look, I don't remember the exact date, but I can probably look up when I purchased a new voip device.

I looked a the lights, it appears my meter is not pushing data to the push device, the push device sends to the internet.

If you dont mind others seeing your Push data, you can post your EKM Push account key here and I can look at the data. But if you want to keep your meter data private, please send us an email with your EKM Push account key and let us know you are having trouble accessing the data.

We will be able to take a look and see if your Push is having trouble reading your meter, or we can see if the Push is not connected to our servers for some reason.
