Installing EKM water meter system in home

Hello,

I'm very interested in installing EKM water meters system at home. I understand that EKM metering can be installed after whatever existed utility meter ( so I will not be involved with utility meter that read my usage and charge me). My question is, do I have to get permission from "local utility" to cut my pipeline and install the EKM water meters? if so, how to obtain it. Any experience will be appreciated.

Hello Osal100, welcome to the forum!

You can install any of our submeters (water, gas, or electric) behind your utility meter without having to get permission from the utility. You are able to legally monitor your service without the utilities knowledge. Our meters have no affect on your utility or utility meter.

Hope this helps,

Thanks James,
How many hours installing the whole system ( the devices and configuration) takes to be up and running?

Of course this really depends on your scenario. If you have to mount enclosures, route conduit, or dig holes, etc. the time can add up.

But for a super easy install it should not take too much time.

The water meter could be plumbed in within a 1/2 hour to an hour.

Then if you want to count the pulses from your water meter, the electric Omnimeter could be installed in about an hour. Here is a video showing an Omnimeter Pulse v.4 being installed: https://help.ekmmetering.com/support/so ... 160-videos

Then connecting the Omnimeter Pulse v.4 to your EKM Push is really quite easy and quick (running the wire takes the most time).
