WATER METER PULSES READING

Hello, I am interested in reading the number of pulses from a water meter directly through a PLC. I undestand that the water meter offers dry contact output for the pulses so I wonder if I could use a 24 V power supply and send the pulses to the PLC input, Is there any trouble with the connection that I'm trying or how could I read the pulses.
The meter I have is the model SPWM-100-CF, thanks for the support

Hello joedtara,

Yes, this will work, but we recommend no more than 20mA and 24V for reading the pulse on all our water meters. So please use a resistor to limit the current, otherwise the reed switch could be damaged.

You can test the pulse output from the water meter using a continuity tester on a handheld multimeter. You should hear a beep for each rotation of the water meter dial that has a magnet on it. I would then make sure that you are limiting your amps to 20mA before connecting your PLC to the water meter pulse output.

Hope this helps,

Ok thank you very much for the support, and I will check then the current that the PLC inputs require.
