EKM Dash update and problem

Hi EKM,

Last week an update offer for the EKM Dash appeared on my laptop and I accepted. When I subsequently attempted to adjust the view, the meter names and numbers disappeared off the window to the left. Nothing I tried was able to get it back in view. I even deleted the program and downloaded it afresh. I reset and that did not work either. The laptop probably retained some memory it liked of what I don't want. I scrutinized the blog but found nothing like this.

Please help, because I couldn't choose any meter to see their readings.

Fortunately, other computers elsewhere have the meters in the usual way, but I can no longer read any of my clients' systems remotely on my laptop.

Hello Alfred,

Thanks for letting us know! We are looking into this and hope to have a fix in our next release.

For now you can try sending us a "Diagnostic Email" (this is under the Help menu item). We can then take a look at your files to see where they may be corrupted.

We would then hope to have a fix included in the next release of the Dash.

Thanks for your help,

Thanks, Jameson.
I did send a diagnostic email.
I'll send another, but it won't have the meters because I deleted everything in attempting a fresh start.

I could not send another diagnostic email today because a Progress window said,
"Error, could not submit diagnostic information."

I am not sure why this would be.

The first question that comes to mind is: Does your computer have a connection to the internet? You need a connection to the internet in order to send us the diagnostic files.

Thanks,

Yes it does have connection to internet and was connected, sending and receiving emails. I'll try again.

Yesterday I downloaded and did a new install of Dash, same as the original poster, and I lost my view of the meter also. In my case it was because I'd re-sized the regions to the point that the meters section disappeared. I have also tried to re-install to no avail. There must be some other location within some folder that holds the configuration info, since doing a fresh install still held the old info. I have sent a diagnostic email prior to finding this post, but its the same issue.
I'll try and do an install on a Linux box and see how that goes. I look forward to a solution, as the Dash interface on my PC is at present unusable.

Hello Gary,

I would try removing your EKM Dash prefs file (it sounds corrupted), when you restart your Dash it will build a new one. This is where your windows positioning and sizing is stored.

Here is the location of the Dash prefs file for various operating systems:

Windows 7 and Vista: C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\EKM Dash
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\EKM Dash
Mac OS X: User/Library/Application Support/EKM Dash/

In Mac OS X if you cannot find it this way just hold down the Option key when you click to open the Dash and you will see where these files are.

Let me know if this does not help, or better yet, let us know if it does help.

Thanks,

Jameson,
It fixed my problem, as I described in a post I saw with the same fix. Thanks!
Now I can get on with other problems to worry you with.
